Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is proud to share our 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of growth, resilience, community connection and continued commitment to Aboriginal health and wellbeing.

This year, CHAC continued to strengthen its role as a trusted Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, providing culturally safe and holistic care across Dareton, Wentworth and surrounding communities.

A major focus for the year was improving access to primary health care. CHAC expanded its GP workforce, with six doctors now working across the Dareton and Wentworth clinics. This has helped reduce wait times and improve access to medical appointments for community members.

We also continued to grow our Aboriginal health workforce, with two staff members completing their Aboriginal Health Practitioner training and becoming AHPRA registered, while more staff began their training journey. Aboriginal Health Practitioners remain at the heart of CHAC’s model of care.

A major achievement was the transition from Communicare to Best Practice clinical software. This upgrade has improved appointment bookings, patient records and day-to-day workflows for reception and clinical staff.

CHAC also strengthened outreach and access to care through clinics at Namatjira Mission and the Elders Flats, as well as continued support through transport, Integrated Team Care, nicotine replacement therapy, pharmacy support, cancer screening, allied health and visiting specialist services.

Throughout the year, CHAC supported a wide range of community health and wellbeing initiatives, including NAIDOC activities, the Baaka community event, Fair Dinkum Choices, FASD awareness, Diabetes Day, Bingo Night, the Knockout Health Challenge, Youth Disco, Mental Health Day and Elders trips.

New and expanded programs also responded to community needs, including Elder Care Support, Cancer Care Support, Targeted Earlier Intervention for young people and mental health support and counselling services.

CHAC also celebrated the five-year anniversary of the Wentworth clinic and expanded clinic days to support greater access for the Wentworth community.

Another major milestone was the commencement of renovations and extensions to CHAC’s facilities. These works will support additional doctor rooms, visiting specialist rooms, dental services, upgraded clinical and administration areas, and improved community spaces.

This year was also a time of reflection, with CHAC acknowledging the passing of former Chair Sharlene Knight and honouring her leadership, wisdom and lasting contribution to the organisation and community.

We also welcomed Judith Afemui as Chair and continued to be guided by strong community-controlled governance.

CHAC thanks our Board, staff, Elders, community members, partners and supporters for their commitment throughout 2025. Together, we continue working toward a healthier, stronger and prouder Aboriginal community.

We invite community members and partners to read the full 2025 Annual Report and reflect on what we have achieved together.
